Ebook About
His scandals were right on track until she derailed everything. As the successful owner of multiple railroad lines, Diana Barton is all too accustomed to fending off suitors seeking to stake their claim on her wealth. In order to keep the wolves at bay, Diana has contrived the perfect plan: appeal to the most notorious rake in London, the Baron Lord Bryant, to ruin her reputation and scare off the worst of the time wasters. The ruse will be no hardship—she’s secretly been fascinated by the man for years.Lord Bryant is well aware of his questionable reputation. Indeed, he has cultivated the image carefully, and the last thing he wants is a wife. When he’s approached by the younger sister of a business associate, he tells her in no uncertain terms that he cannot help. However, when he sees for himself what she is up against, Bryant grudgingly offers his assistance. Faced with his most complicated entanglement yet, Bryant is firm in his conditions—and Diana knows that to get romantically involved with Bryant would spell certain heartbreak. But as the counterfeit couple grows ever closer, the line between truth and lies becomes blurred, threatening both Lord Bryant’s well-laid plans and the future of Diana’s railroad business.

Book A Proper Scoundrel Review :

Dear Mrs. Hatch,I do hope you will excuse any breach of propriety, writing to you without having previously made your acquaintance. I felt, however, that such a letter would be vastly more appropriate than a letter to Lord Bryant (though perhaps he wouldn’t mind if he thought Mrs. Cuthbert had sent me).Mrs. Hatch, you have created quite possibly the most wonderful book of my acquaintance. It has captured both my attention and my heart and I am fully, completely, wholly in love. Naturally, part of this is Lord Bryant’s doing. I submit that any woman would find Lord Bryant difficult to resist and, for quite literally the first time in my life, I lay claim to a “book boyfriend,” if you will excuse the term. But of course Diana is a woman equal to all that is amazing and swoony that Lord Bryant brings to the table. If there were only one woman who would be perfect for Lord Bryant (and I am convinced there is), she would most certainly be Diana Barton. As each page and chapter swept by to reveal yet another that was beautifully written and thoughtfully developed, I became completely entranced and ignored all my familial responsibilities for the day. Naturally such a circumstance would have been made vastly easier with a handful of maids and a housekeeper, but alas, I find myself bereft of these commodities. I could only be pulled away when my darling husband (with whom I am truly, madly in love, for all that he is not as swoony as Lord Bryant) asked if he and our children would receive anything for dinner that day. Of course he could not understand that allure that was Everton and Diana’s enchanting story. You, my dear, lovely lady, have crafted a book that will truly reside at the top of my most highly regarded books list, quite possibly for the rest of time. I am not sure I have words adequate to express my love for this phenomenal work. Your book has bewitched me, body and soul, and I must tell you how ardently I love and admire your work (too much?), and you may count me among your top fans for the rest of time. With deepest regards,Your very devoted fan, JessicaQuotes I loved (could potentially contain spoilers):“Every woman is a Diamond of the first water. Every woman. You won’t be sullied by me.”She was being kissed by a man. Not just any man, but Lord Bryant. Arguably the desired man in all of London. She smelled of ink and paper, not roses like other women. When had paper become a heady scent?Precisely two minutes ago.“If you can’t handle being missed by me, you shouldn’t have invited me to cause a scandal with you.”Everton could get used to being appreciated by Miss Barton.“As everyone knows, a single woman in possession of a railroad company must be in want of a husband.”His striking emerald eyes scanned her face. They were the color of the new spring leaves that burst onto the trees lining the Drive of Baimbury Hall.... It was no wonder so many women fell for him with eyes like that. She has seen sides of him that were beautiful, and they had nothing to do with his face.If more women were like her, he would be out of the scandal-making business. There would be no more shrinking violets.“I didn’t have to kiss you to help you. There are plenty of other ways I could have convinced Mr. Broadcreek to leave you alone, much more gentlemanly ways.”“I never said you were a gentleman, only that you are most definitely not a rake.”She was like a cat about to pounce on a mouse, and feeling like a mouse was not comfortable.“Are you so accomplished at lying that you have managed to convince yourself of your devilry?”Yes, yes he was.“So this is what a woman’s cheek feels like.”Diana laughed....”I know you have touched a woman’s cheek before.”“Never one who smiles at me like you are now.”Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A Proper Scoundrelby Esther HatchBook 3 in the Proper Scandals seriesRating: 4.5/5Who doesn't love a bad boy with a heart of gold? Who doesn't love Han Solo? Esther Hatch delivers a fun and swoon-worthy regency romance that is sure to make you smile and root for the entertaining couple. Although this is book three in the series, you can still read this one as a standalone.Diana Barton is the woman running multiple railroad lines and loves her job. She has no intention of marrying soon, but many suitors start to disrupt her work so she has to find a solution. Desperate for some relief, Diana goes to see Lord Everton Bryant who has a carefully preserved reputation as a scoundrel and cad. She needs someone to ruin her reputation so she can stop fending off would-be callers and do her job. Lord Bryant is hesitant to get involved but he eventually acquiesces and can't seem to get the lovely Diana out of his head. She is headstrong and likes to push back against him. He enjoys provoking her and getting a rise out of her. Will Lord Bryant's past and reputation prevent him from having a future full of life, hope and love? Can Diana trust that Lord Bryant won't derail her plans? The chemistry and banter between the two main characters is so good and should not be surprising if you've read anything from the author before. She has a talent for strong, female leads - I loved how smart and resourceful Diana was as a businesswoman. She was more like Lord Bryant's equal. I think what Lord Bryant was trying to do to help young women was admirable but he definitely deserved his own HEA.Highly recommend this fantastic read if you enjoy clean regency romance with some spice and a lot of heart! My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.
